Memory in Motion: Social Movements and Healing Transgenerational Trauma

Join us in this vital conversation as we explore how memory can guide us from survival to thriving—transforming transgenerational trauma into pathways for healing, justice, and societal well-being. There is no single story, but rather, shared visions of healing trans-generational trauma traversing categories of race, class, ethnicity, and national origin. Women from diverse racial, and cultural backgrounds are invited to attend, and present at the conference. The Memory in Motion: Social Change and Healing Transgenerational Trauma Conference is held Aug. 6-9, 2025 in Mt. Vlasic, Bosnia presented by the Kolo Women’s Cross Cultural Collaboration.
The Women Only conference invites your story and presence in collaboration with scholars, practitioners, and activists from diverse fields to participate in a transdisciplinary conversation on transgenerational trauma, memory, and its social, cultural, and public relevance to women. The on-site conference builds on the legacy of earlier Kolo: Women’s Cross-Cultural Collaboration (Kolo: WCCC) conferences, including the 10th Anniversary Novi Travnik BiH and the 2019 NonKilling Balkans conferences held in Sarajevo, BiH. Together we explore the memory of critical turning points shaping new tensions and possibilities, while illuminating pathways toward societal transformation and healing.
The Kolo Cross Cultural Collaboration is a non-profit organization dedicated to making Women visible, in order to foment leadership, uplift voices, and create spaces for healing rooted in Social Collectives and traditional practices. The Kolo Memory in Motion conference invites you to share your voice and presence, to dance and connect, share research, and tacit wisdom. Healing begins when we learn from one another, and memories are held across generations.
